Welcome to Year 5!
We have a really exciting year ahead of us in Willow Class. We began with cycling training, a tennis coach and exciting texts about some American Heroes. We studied the geography of the Americas and in science we linked in some features of animals and humans.
During Spring 1, we are studying the text Arthur and the Golden Rope while we build our knowledge of the Vikings invasions which came after the Anglo-Saxons. We will study their origins and reasons for going 'Viking' whilst using Longships to help develop our practical sciences skills while studying forces. Our PE is swimming (Mondays) and some team skills in gymnastics (Fridays). We also have lots of art, Drama and time in Camp Curiosity. We may even have the chance to buddy with Saplings class on a trip to Delamere forest...
Later in the year, we continue to take part in lots of creativity skills development activities and look forward to thinking of others in a No outsiders event. We will be studying a wide range of history, science and cross curriculum work including time up in space and travelling back to the time of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. The Isle of Man residential will also be taking place which is a very exciting and adventurous trip!
Please take time to look a the year 5 connected curriculum document to find out what we will be learning throughout the year, watch Seesaw for weekly spelling, mathletics for weekly maths and keep your eye out for Pings letting you know of further things going on in Willow class.
