Our Curriculum

At Kelsall Primary and Nursery School, a curriculum and environment has been designed that encourages ‘A Love for Learning’. We aim to nurture academic excellence and also develop successful human beings who possess the passion and capacity to contribute to a better world. We want our children to become ethical people with a motivating desire to develop as a learner; finding out more about the complex world they live in and the positive impact they can have.
Expeditionary Learning at Kelsall
Our curriculum is designed to empower students to achieve multiple dimensions of success:
- Mastery of knowledge and skills
- Character building
- High quality work
This expanded definition of achievement honours children’s full humanity and draws on decades of research demonstrating that social, emotional and academic development are inseparable and mutually reinforcing.

Learning Without Limits
When we get it right for disadvantaged pupils, we get it right for everyone. At the heart of our approach is a belief in every child’s capacity to learn and succeed—a principle rooted in the Learning Without Limits philosophy. We reject fixed ability thinking and instead create a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and trust, where every pupil is supported to flourish. Our pedagogical practices are grounded in this inclusive mindset, ensuring that teaching is expert, responsive, and relational—built on strong, respectful connections that enable all pupils to thrive. This approach ensures that all children, regardless of background, experience teaching that is ambitious, inclusive, and designed to help them make meaningful progress through carefully sequenced, small steps that build confidently on prior knowledge.
