The Designated Safeguarding Lead for all Safeguarding and Child Protection issues is Mrs Sarah White (Headteacher). In her absence, Mrs Chloe Hook (Deputy Headteacher) and Mrs Sally Whiteside (Learning Mentor) are the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.  The designated governor is Mrs Hayley Davies.

Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass is a police and education early information safeguarding partnership enabling schools to offer immediate support to children experiencing domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass ensures that there is a simple telephone call or notification to a school’s trained Designated Safeguarding Lead (known as key Adult) prior to the start of the next school day after an incident of police attended domestic abuse where there are children related to either of the adult parties involved. 

Information is shared with a school’s Key Adult (Mrs Sarah White - Headteacher) prior to the start of the next school day after officers have attended a domestic abuse incident. This sharing of information enables appropriate support to be given, dependent upon the needs and wishes of the child.

Prevent

At Kelsall Primary & Nursery School, keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility. The Prevent duty forms part of our wider safeguarding work, helping us protect children and young people from radicalisation and provide early support where concerns arise.

We support children to develop a strong sense of belonging, respect for others and the confidence to ask questions and seek help. Through our Crew culture, No Outsiders approach and curriculum, we promote fundamental British values: democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

Children learn, in ways appropriate to their age and development, how to recognise prejudice, think critically about information and stay safe online. Staff are alert to concerns that a child may be susceptible to radicalisation into terrorism and respond through our safeguarding procedures, working with local partners where appropriate.
