Life as a child during WW2
Class: Year 4 - Elm Year: 2014 - 2015
Last week, Elm Class were lucky enough to have a visit from WW2 expert Fred Hardy.
Growing up and attending school during the war, Fred was able to give the children a real insight into what life was like as a child during WW2. The children enjoyed handling artefacts such as gas masks, ration books, medals and shrapnel and thoroughly enjoyed listening to his stories. Comparing and contrasting school back then to present day, the children were shocked to learn that the cane was used rather than respect reminders and green spots!
It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to ask questions and learn from someone who has experience it all! Thank you Fred for taking the time to come and see the children.
