Special Educational Needs and Disabilities at Kelsall Primary School

Many children may need a little extra help and support as they move through school and at Kelsall we aim to support all children on their learning journey. School staff are always happy to help you if you have any questions regarding SEN provision, but the following information should help to answer any of your initial queries.

Below you will find information on the following:

  • Kelsall School and Cheshire Academies Trust SEND reports.
  • The Cheshire West and Chester Local Offer.
  • The Government Code of Practice for SEND

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact Mrs L Robinson (SENDCo) via email at: laura.robinson@kelsall.cheshire.sch.uk

What does the government have to say about Special Education Needs and Disabilities?

The statutory special educational needs and disability (SEND) system for children and young people aged 0 to 25 came into force from 1 September 2014. Please click on the link below to access the documentation:

What is the Local Offer?

Local authorities and other services will set out a local offer of all services available to support children who are disabled or who have SEN and their families. The local offer will enable families to understand what services they can access and what support they can expect from a range of local agencies, including from the local authority, health services, schools, leisure services and the voluntary sector. The offer will include provision from birth to 25, across education, health and social care.

The potential outcomes of the Local Offer are:

  • To provide clarity and confidence for parents
  • To support earlier intervention
  • To reduce the need for assessment
  • To identify need and gaps in provision
  • To provide an evidence base for improving progress and securing better outcomes, at school and local level
