Welcome to Year 6!
It's the start of a new school year and we are looking forward to all of the exciting things that year 6 has to offer.
This year our whole school theme is focused on the book series 'Little People, Big Dreams'. Each term we will be focusing on an inspiring person and our learning will take an exciting journey through their lives and the time and places they lived.
During the first term, each class will focus on an author and an artist. Year 6 are beginning their learning with the life of the artist Jacob Lawrence and his series' of art based on Migration, Harriet Tubman and the War. We will extend this learning to discover the history of the Atlantic Slave Trade and the road to freedom as well as celebrating black history for Black History Month in October.
After half term we will move on to the life of Anne Frank and our learning will focus on World war 2, which includes a trip to the Methodist Church to take part in a 'journey' through the war.
If you have anything that you feel could help with our topic or if you feel you could help out in school, please do get in touch…we love to have visitors!
