Year 4 - Elm 2017 - 2018
Welcome to Elm Class!
Class Teacher: Miss Cadwallader
Teaching Assistant: Mrs J Lappin
Hello and welcome to Elm class.
In our class Miss Cadwallader and Mrs Lappin will be teaching us. Mr Clayton will be working with us every Monday afternoon.
Together we will be further developing the skills of:
Making connections, Finding answers & Independence
while ensuring that we work as a TEAM in achieving our aims.
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are excited to be back, I know I certainly am! We have so much to look forward to this term.
As a class, we will be looking at the book ‘Running Wild’ by Michael Morpurgo. This book embarks on the journey of survival for a young boy called Will and the elephant that saves him from the Tsunami in Indonesia. Luckily he is not alone as he sets out in the vast jungle learning how to survive. We will also be linking the animal survival in Indonesia to the Song Birds. We will be looking closely at their habitats and the general survival they go through on a day to day basis.
From this we will be linking out geography work of natural disasters such as earthquakes and volcanoes along with the maps and grid references, symbols and keys of these large places.
In science we will look into the different habitats and diets of these animals and understand the importance of a safe environment for them to strongly survive in some of the tough climates around the world.
This also gives us so many amazing writing opportunities along the way whilst also linking in various other subjects.
We also have our year 4 residential to look forward to after half term which we will speak about as the term goes on.
The spellings homework for this half term can also be found on this page.
