Welcome to Maple Class!
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Christmas and are ready to come back and begin spring term.
Our theme this year will be One World, which will be broken down into three main aspects: Reach for the stars in the first term, bottom of the ocean after Christmas and then feet on the ground in the summer term. We will be linking various books along the way to link in each of these themes.
This term we will be exploring and understanding life at the ‘Bottom of the ocean’. We will be looking into the world that lies beneath us. Our focus book will be Manfish, which follows a journey of a young man who is a diver. Jacques expresses the wonderful things that he sees through his life and how the seas are ever changing. As Jacques (Manfish) grows up he finds that the ocean isn’t quite what it used to be and he wants us to help make a change. Therefore, we will be designing and creating a project linked to our STEAM curriculum to help reduce waste and pollution in the ocean.
Through all this we will imbed our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) work. Through this STEAM work we hope to equip the children will various skills they will use as they progress through school and later on in life. All foundation subjects will intertwine through the theme.
Each term we will be creating one big project which will reflect the work we have been doing through STEAM subjects.
All of our learning will be focused around this theme. Take a look at our topic web to find out more information about the learning opportunities we have planned for this term.
You will also find our spelling homework lists and other useful information attached to our class page.
If you have any resources or information you feel would be relevant to our topic, we would love for you to pop in and share in our 'love for learning'.
If you need to discuss anything about your child, in the first instance arrange to speak to your child’s class teacher: email@example.com
