Year 3 - Maple 2019 - 2020
Class Teacher: Miss Cadwallader
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Crawford, Mrs Kirwin
Supported on Wednesday morning by Mr J. Clayton for Art.
Welcome to Maple Class!
Our theme this year will be ‘Little People, BIG DREAMS’. As a class, we will explore some of the extraordinary people that have changed the world in some way. We will be looking at Authors & Artists in Autumn Term then moving on to Scientists & Sporting Icons in Spring Term. Finally, we will be ending the year by studying some Explorers & Entertainers. We will be linking various books along the way to connect each of these themes to the curricum.
Through all this, we will imbed our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) work. By underpinning our STEAM work, we hope to equip the children with various skills they will use as they progress through school and later on in life. All foundation subjects will intertwine through the theme too.
Along the way, we will also use our STEAM curriculum to explore and discover a range of different problems and use our critical thinking to find ways to overcome these. This will also be linked to our ‘Little People, BIG DREAMS’ theme.
I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas break and are ready for another exciting term in Maple Class. During Spring Term, we are going to be
In Literacy, we are reading Winter’s Child and Big Blue Whale to guide our writing. We are also going to be looking at the extraordinary David Attenborough and the amazing things he has doing and is doing for our animals. As a class, we will also be studying the wider world by looking at oceans, continents and countries to guide our geography. In addition to this, we will be exploring the home of the main characters in both of our books.
On top of all of this, we will be going on our Year 3 Residential to Tattenhall. This is such an exciting time to spend with members of our class whilst taking part in some exciting activities.
Please make sure that PE kits are in school all week.
