Class Teacher: Miss Cadwallader

Teaching Assistant: Mrs C Watson

Supported on Monday afternoon by Mr J. Clayton for Art.

Welcome to Maple Class!

We're back to it after summer and I am very excited to be in year 3! We have a fantastic term ahead of us with lots of great learning and exciting opportunities.

Our theme this year will be One World, which will be broken down into three main aspects: Reach for the stars in the first term, bottom of the ocean after Christmas and then feet on the ground in the summer term. We will be linking various books along the way to link in each of these themes.

This half term we will begin by looking at 'The Lost Stars' by Hannah Cumming and ‘Star in the Jar’ by Sam Hay. Through these books we will be linking in the theme ‘Reach for the stars’. We will be looking at the importance of stars and how sometimes they can be underappreciated, as people are always looking down… instead of up.

Through all this we will imbed our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) work. Through this STEAM work we hope to equip the children will various skills they will use as they progress through school and later on in life. All foundation subjects will intertwine through the theme.

Each term we will be creating one big project which will reflect the work we have been doing through STEAM subjects. In year 3 we will be making an amazing telescope which will hopefully enable us to view the beautiful stars in the sky, along with any other fascinating that are above us.

All of our learning will be focused around this themeTake a look at our topic web to find out more information about the learning opportunities we have planned for this term.

You will also find our spelling homework lists and other useful information attached to our class page.

If you have any resources or information you feel would be relevant to our topic, we would love for you to pop in and share in our 'love for learning'.

If you need to discuss anything about your child, in the first instance arrange to speak to your child’s class teacher:
