Year 1 - Beech 2017 - 2018

Welcome to Beech Class!

Class Teacher: Mrs Doyle and Mrs Smith

Teaching Assistants: Mrs Watson, Mrs Whiteside, Mrs Crawford, and Miss Noble

Welcome to autumn term in Beech class laugh

'Survivors' is the over-arching theme at Kelsall School this year and Michael Morpurgo is the chosen author, so we begin our learning with the book 'Where My Wellies Take Me' which is a wonderful collection of poems and descriptions of childhood countryside walks.

Beech class will begin by thinking in terms of explorers and what they need to 'survive'.  Autumn is the perfect season for walks in the school woods and in the village which will provide rich stimuli for our writing and drawing, as well as a real context in which we can be geographers.  We will collect natural objects on the walks to use for counting and addition and subtraction.  Day time camping and orienteering events will inspire and excite our young explorers as we head further into autumn.

A copy of the topic web with more details of the term's learning along with our class Fact File and spelling homework can be found in 'class pages'.

As we strive to be the best learners we can be, please do pop in with any information or resources you may feel are relevant to our topic that you would like to share.  Help us in our quest to provide a Love For Learning!

Remember, you can Tweet your homework and any home learning on twitter @KelsallSchool
